Symptoms/Side Effects of INH
Your doctor has decided that you need INH (Isoniazid) treatment. It is important for your health and the health of others that you take your medication as instructed every day. Please let the Immunization and Travel Clinic know if you have these symptoms:
- Change in vision
- Dark or brown urine
- Loss of appetite
- Nausea and vomiting
- Skin rashes
- Tingling and numbness of hands/feet
- Yellowing of eyes or skin
- Clumsiness or unsteadiness
- Diarrhea
- Weight Loss
- Pain in upper abdomen
- Stools lighter in color
- Weakness and fatigue
Take your medicine in the prescribed amount every day and return for follow-up visits.
Drug Recommendations
- Do NOT drink alcohol
- Do NOT use aluminum-containing antacids or laxatives (they reduce INH resorption)
- Do NOT get pregnant
- Do take vitamin B6
- Do take INH with food if not tolerated on an empty stomach
